Opens the Merge Layers dialog box, where you can merge selected layers into a target layer, removing the previous layers from the drawing.

Button

 Ribbon:  Home tab Layers panel Merge Not available on the ribbon in the current workspace
 Menu:  Format Layer Tools Layer Merge Not available in menus in the current workspace

Summary

You can reduce the number of layers in a drawing by merging them. Objects on merged layers are moved to the target layer, and the original layers are purged from the drawing.

If you enter -LAYMRG at the Command prompt, options are displayed only at the command line.

List of Prompts

The following prompts are displayed.

After you selected the layer(s) to merge, the following prompt is displayed:

The layer you select to merge into the target layer is deleted.

Select Object on Target Layer
Select on object on the layer whose properties you want to retain.
Select Object on Layer to Merge

Select an object on the layer whose objects will be moved.

Name (after first prompt)

Displays the Merge Layers dialog box, where you can select the name of a layer whose objects will be moved.

Name (after second prompt)

Displays the Merge to Layer dialog box, where you can select the name of the layer where the objects will be moved.
