Sets whether edge, face, or vertex grips are active upon initial selection.

0

Specifies that grips are inactive when a subobject is initially selected. When multiple subobjects are selected, you specify the subobjects to modify by pressing Shift and selecting them again.

1 Specifies that the subobject selection grips are active when the subobject is selected. When multiple subobjects are selected, you can immediately modify them as a group without selecting them again.

Setting this system variable to 1 is especially helpful for quickly modifying groups of faces, edges and vertices on mesh objects.
