Simulation and Advanced Data Manipulation

The Simulation and Advanced Data Manipulation tools for Particle Flow are included with the Extension for Autodesk 3ds Max 2013. Most features described in this section are currently available only to customers on active subscription for the Autodesk ® 3ds Max ® Entertainment Creation Suite Premium or Standard, or the Autodesk ® Entertainment Creation Suite Ultimate; the Cache Disk and Cache Selective feature sets are available to all 3ds Max customers on active subscription.

This software provides two important main toolsets:

Also included in the Extension for Autodesk 3ds Max 2013 are new Cache operators that speed up feedback by caching to disk and excluding certain types of data from the cache. So, for example, you can cache animation and then continue to change other parameters to see the results instantly, without waiting for recalculation.

ImportantThis Extension includes a number of sample scene files that are referred to in topics in this section. These files are typically installed in the Scenes folder inside your personal folder. The easiest way to find them is to use the Search feature (Search programs and files) at the bottom of the Windows Start menu.
  • Cache Operators

Included with the Extension for Autodesk 3ds Max 2013 are these cache operators:

  • Particle Flow Simulation

The Particle Flow Simulation toolset is designed to extend the power and flexibility of the standard Particle Flow system, particularly in its abilities to create sophisticated, realistic physics simulations.

  • Advanced Data Manipulation

The Advanced Data Manipulation toolset for Particle Flow lets you create your own custom Particle Flow tools. You can build standard operators and tests as well as those that use icons.
